Summary/Abstract: Being in the know of a Transylvanian Orthodox hierarch who has lead the community entrusted to him for more than three decades (1811-1845) is an incontestable obligation for each Romanian intellectual. Such a character has represented a spirit of his time and can be so far considered as a mirror where the life of a nation under extremely hard circumstances is being reflected. As the period in which bishop Vasile Moga has been so distant knowing his life and his activity can be made through analyzing the documents produced in that period as well as through the historians’ reflections and considerations. Going over the pages of the present study we will be able to observe in an easy way the way in which bishop Vasile Moga’s life and activity has been reflected non only in his descendants’s writings, but also in the historians’ papers from the second half of the 19th century and from the 20th century.
