Summary/Abstract: The object of this article as viewed by the author is the clarification of insufficiently researched at the present moment issues related to official correspondence between the local government authorities in Kiev at the end of the XIX-th – beginning of the XX-th century (the Kiev City Duma and the Kiev City Council) and other institutions, organizations and authorities, peculiarities of the documentary information of external incoming documents and internal outgoing documents. The research methodology lies in applying the historical method,textual analysis method and deconstruction of documentary information. The above-mentioned methodological tools enable us to disclose and analyze the official document as an object of record keeping processes carried out by the state and local authorities at all stages of historical development. The scientific novelty is the expansion of scientific knowledge about the execution, major groups and types of documents, typical for the Kiev City Duma and the Kiev City Council. Conclusions. The substantial analysis of the execution and the types composition of the documents at the Kiev City Duma and the Kiev City Council certified typical execution of the majority of official documents on the specific forms and the use of standard forms of address in the requisite details “Addressee.”
