ТРОПИ У ВІРШОВАНИХ ТВОРАХ С. ВОРОБКЕВИЧА ДРУГОГО ПЕРІОДУ ТВОРЧОСТІ (1867-1875)
TROPES IN THE POETIC WRITINGS OF S. VOROBKEVYCH IN THE SECOND PERIOD OF HIS CREATIVITY (1867-1875)

Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the tropes in the poetic heritage of S. Vorobkevych in the second period of his creativity (1867-1875). Poetic writings of S. Vorobkevych are chronologically divided into 3 periods: Early creativity (1863-1867). Second period (1867-1875). Third period (1875-1903). On all the levels analyzed, Vorobkevych’s early works demonstrate their high artistic quality. The study of the poetry of (1863- 1867) brought out clearly that, the poet’s creativity demonstrates a remarkable progress, the ample use of yet non-proven tropes. Yet, misfortunes constrain Vorobkevych’s search for new forms and cause shortage in his poetic arsenal. Second period of creativity of S. Vorobkevych is the last long of аll terms. In 1867 S. Vorobkevych moved to Chernivtsi. He worked at a school and a seminary. He lived in Vienna for 6 months. There he studied in the conservatory. This changed his life and alienated him for poetic creativity. He paid more attention to music, but he soon returned to literature. The poetry of the second period (1867-1875) reveals its essential difference from what has been written earlier. Poetic language is powered by inexhaustible sources of national language, its active and passive vocabulary. Early poetic speech gives a unique flavor to the author’s work, becoming his style. He often used comparison (Frequency ratio – 0.05), metaphors (FR – 0.04), epithets (FR – 0.05), metonymy (FR – 0.003), synecdoche (FR – 0.003), hyperbole (FR – 0.006). The examples of oxymoron, allegory, symbols, meioses, irony, euphemisms are also registered. Compared to the previous period of his creativity, quantitative changes in terms of the use of tropes decreased have been compensated. The results obtained help to give S. Vorobkevych proper space in the 19 century all-Ukrainian literary context, thereby illuminating prosogic peculiarities of the Ukrainian poetry in Vorobkevych’s day.
