Summary/Abstract: The ecclesiastical history of the first half of the nineteenth century was marked, in the Transylvanian space, by the providential figure of Bishop Vasile Moga, the first Romanian hierarch after the abolition of the Transylvanian Orthodox Metropolitan Church by the Austrians in 1701, a remarkable personality of the social-political and cultural-church life of Orthodox Romanians from north of the Carpathians. The above mentioned hierarch was deeply concerned about the solution of all his pastoral problems, demanding political and social rights in Vienna on their behalf, ordaining priests, opening schools (with qualified teaching staff), blessing the building of new churches and the printing of ecclesiastical books etc. In this broad context, we also present its many connections to Orthodox priests and Orthodox faithful, under the administrative and canonical jurisdiction of the Episcopate, and then to the Transylvanian Metropolitan Church, residing in Sibiu.
