Moga’s Documents in the Archives of the Transylvanian Archbishopric. Contributions

Summary/Abstract: The following scientific enterprise aims at informing the academic community in a brief manner about the ,,Vasile Moga” documentary fond identified within the ecclesiastical archives from Sibiu. Down the ages the idea of the total destruction of bishop’s Vasile Moga archive during the events caused by the 1848-1849 Revolution has become a common place, our analysis debunking this myth and demonstrating the fact that there are still sufficient archivistic founds that are waiting for their researchers. What we really intend to explore within this study has the goal to reunite and correct some cliches, to inaugurate new directions for restoring the lost documents, some only forgotten (documents, order protocols, recordings of proceedings, correspondences, certificates regarding the priests’ consecration and palls-liturgical objects in whose absence the Holy Mass can not be celebrated), referring to the life and the activity of bishop Vasile Moga. Obviously, an exhaustive presentation of this topic would be made possible only in the future, at the moment trying to establish some structures of possible interest accompanied by some examples and descriptions.
