Summary/Abstract: The genre of Menippean satire has for long been willingly studied and discussed by scholars. That results not only from its character, both erudite and mocking, but also from the fact that it actually escapes any strict definition. Numerous questions remain unanswered and yet any attempts at providing the answers seem debatable and are the subject of much controversy.
