Summary/Abstract: Purpose of the article. The work is devoted to the study of socio-historical nature of mass holiday and the substantiation of its significance as a form of preservation of cultural identity and spirituality in the present conditions. The methodology of the study involves using historical-cultural and historical-logical methods and socio-philosophical analysis of the problem of forming the phenomenon of mass holidays. Scientific novelty. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the determination of the social nature of theatrical mass holiday as a collective action and the experience of society members of different population segments regarding cultural self-preservation in today’s world. Conclusions. Being a historical form of cultural activity and spiritual ties, the feast is a means of their consolidation. Thus, the social nature of the holiday is determined – the knowledge of the history and culture of the country, unification of each family and individual groups, and the whole nation. Therefore, theatrical mass celebration is a peculiar cultural phenomenon, a special manifestation of the existence of a social society, historically formed and in which there can not be passive spectators, since all one and all are its direct participants
