Craft in north-eastern voivodeships of Poland in the interwar period

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the research of the article is to analyze the state of craft in northeastern Poland in the interwar period. The object of the research is the creation, operation and development of crafts in the voivodeships: Białystok, Nowogródek and Wilno. The essence of the applied research method is a comparative analysis of indicators of crafts for three provinces and comparing them with national indicators. Comparative analysis shows that despite the high backwardness in the early twentieth century, the north-eastern territories of Poland in the interwar period saw the development of craft, which was an important branch of the economy of this region. The number of workshops on 1000 people and the structure of craft by professional groups were approaching to average-national values, despite a very weak supply of credit.
