Summary/Abstract: Following the terryifing events that on the historical scene marked the turn of the two centuries, the 19th and the 20th, the social catastrophes that followed, the bloodshed and all the consequences of the destruction and horrors caused by war, Krleza’s works are directed to only one goal- “to awaken pathos and painfully raise awareness” in those who could save mankind from its complete destruction. Miroslav Krleza, a writer of a majestic opus and amazing style, as the absolute ruler of the literary word will, in his fundamental doctrine, forever strive to find ways to alleviate human tragedy caused by the violence of man and mankind. When writing on the global experience of war and the consequences of war, Krleza and his peculiar and distinctive Krlezian character, will scream out the anti-war cries of the victim, fully aware that the human body and soul are only one segment of the cruel reality of one of the most critical periods of human existence. Such a defeating intellectual insight in to tragedy, of the man from these regions, both dear and familiar to the author for all his naivity, is clearly presented through a great number of his texts and is especially prominent in drama.
