Orthodoxy and nation building. 1918-1941

Summary/Abstract: This study is a chapter of the PhD project entitled “Romanian political theology. A discourse analysis. 1918-1941.” The theme in this article reveals the analysis of the concepts historical reality-orthodoxy, nation, within the theological discourse with a political function. The study analyzes the connection between the two concepts/ historical realities – orthodoxy and the nation in the speech of an influential theologian of the interwar Romanian Orthodox Church - Father and Professor Dumitru Stăniloae and in the work of an important professor of theology, a strong voice in Christian agora – Nichifor Crainic. An intelligent reading inserted in the Zeitgeist of that era reveals the theological and ideological consistency of the concepts orthodoxy and nation in the works of the previously named theologians.
