Summary/Abstract: The paper analyses the continuities and innovations in dealing with the war/postwar period at the levels of construction and world-view. By means of an analysis of the structure of the narrative and style elements of two novels by two authors evidently present in the literature of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina (Tatjana Gromača and Josip Mlakić, respectively), a genesis within their personal poetics is established as well as within the historical contexts of the national literatures. The established parallels (Gromača-Ugrešić and Mlakić-Andrić) testify to a constant horizontal and vertical netting of the relevant ideas within the thematic span of the cultural area. Regarding that, according to some critics (Donat), the theme of war has not been addressedat the appropriate value level, especially due to a laid-back attitude of a great deal of younger writers, while preserving the theme in the post-war discourseis important for profiling the national corpus as a whole.
