Macroregional Centres in Serbia as Destinations of Population Migrations

Summary/Abstract: Within the frame of the Spatial Plan of the Republic of Serbia from 1996 this investigation is limited to defining macroregional centres, i.e. towns, with special attention to migrations. Different history, geographic position as well as treatment of these centres by authorithies resulted in their different functional capacities which can be discussed taking migrations into account. In order to point out the importance and role of macroregional centres in spacially functional organization of the state territory, their migration properties, i.e. their absorbent capacities, in relation to both the close and wider surrounding have been analized in this paper.
