Summary/Abstract: The author analyses the new Renaissance artistic patterns used by the author of the dissertation on the astronomy Introductorium compendiosum in Tractatum sphaerae materialis Ioannis de Sacrobusto, Jan of Głogów, a little bit forgotten writer, a representative of the, so called, scholastic philosophy in Poland, who was also a teacher of Wawrzyniec Korwin and Mikołaj Kopernik. The dissertation keeps fascinating its readers because of its poetical insertions, mythological tales and information about overseas expeditions and the discovery of the New World. In the article Robert K. Zawadzki discusses these by all means interesting themes to be saturated – in the intention of its author – with antique motifs and Italian ideas, which was exactly the core of Renaissance outlook.
