Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the problem of cultural crisis in Europe, which appeared in the early 50s. Vladimir Varshavsky sought to define the meaning of this phenomenon and also was one of many writers who tried to explain how man can struggle with cultural and human crisis. In his book "The Unnoticed Generation" Varshavsky wrote about the so-called younger generation of the First Wave which consisted of people who had not managed to make a name for themselves in Russia and later in Paris, during their emigration life. That was one of the reasons that they created the “Russian idea” (a combination of Christian and democratic elements), which was supposed to be a remedy for the ills of mankind.
