Summary/Abstract: The paper argues that the economic performance of the Israeli economy makes this country a case study with tremendous academic and public policy relevance. Israel could be seen as a classic model of the implementation of the Western receipt for the rule of law, respect for private property and, since the 70s, promotion of the free trade with the rest of the world and support for domestic markets.
