Summary/Abstract: This article pays attention to the Polish-German border region, which is quite a specific area. It has a problem of searching for common denominators of communication and cooperation of the population living in the Polish German area. After World War II as a result of the designation of the new Polish border on the Oder and Neisse these areas took on a new face. Existing inhabitants were compelled to leave their region and in their place of living The majority of Poles resettled from the eastern territories annexed by the Stalinist empire. This has created a growing source of bias, hostility and hatred, fears about the future, uncertainty and grief for many years. The purpose of the text is an attempt to answer the following questions: Have the residents on both sides of the rivers attempted to communicate and understand each other? How political changes (especially the Polish accession to the European Union) have affected the communities on both sides of the border? What kind of dilemmas in the social space of the border are visible today?
