Summary/Abstract: Public communication helps to optimally identify, validate, create and maintain mutually beneficial relationships between an organization and its audiences. Public communication is effective when complemented by public dialogue. In this article, we will look at public communication and public dialogue as instruments for conducting a prudent fiscal policy capable of solving social problems as well. This brings us to the debate about fiscal policy and the search for a fiscal space for social policy. The important question would be whether the government will be able to communicate appropriately the vicious circle of growing government spending on social policy, lack of economic growth, sovereign debt, slow economic growth, and even more limited fiscal space. Here comes the role of the public dialogue, supported by institutions, experts and the media, to help governments achieve both economic stability and social justice at the same time.
