Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the study is to identify the external environment factors that influence the decision making of outsourcing. As a practical application of the study, was chosen the pharmaceutical products sector in Bulgaria due to its complex supply chain. The study was conducted on the basis of PEST analysis.The study results identified as leading factors in the economic environment, followed by political and technological factors. The characteristics of the pharmaceutical sector in Bulgaria determine the form of outsourcing, aimed at reducing costs instead of the other form - to increase innovation. A key conclusion from the poll conducted is the importance of the internal environment when deciding on outsourcing.
