Terminology 21

Summary/Abstract: In 2014 the terminology community of Lithuania has been remembering the life and work of the terminologist Kazimieras Gaivenis to mark what would have been his 80th birthday. From the first issue of Terminologija (the first issue came out under the title of Terminologijos vagos in 1994) to the seventh inclusive Gaivenis was the member of the editorial board of the journal and the editor-in-chief of issues 2–7. The 21st issue of Terminologija is dedicated to him. His activities and works are reviewed in four articles: the first introduces Gaivenis as a person and scientist, the second comments on his input to the development of modern Lithuanian, the third provides an overview of his work at the Terminology Commission which was active between 1945 and 1971 and the fourth introduces his corrections and suggestions in regard to Lithuanian medical terminology.
