Summary/Abstract: The core of the Special Collection in the National Library of Romania includes stocks coming from famous collectors, to which there are to be added representative works for the book and Romanian and world printing history, coming from donations and purchase. ENRICH Project. Manuscriptorium aimed the access to digital images of the old documents from different cultural European institutions. The National Library of Romania also participated to other projects, as follows: REDISCOVER, developed in the framework of the programme of European cooperation Culture Program 2007-2013 and Balkan Itineraries. Virtual digital collection, pilot project developed between 2011 and 2013, which aimed to create a bibliographical database to include rare and valuable books printed between the 16th and the 18th century and signed by French or Francophone authors, diplomats, militaries, explorers and adventurers, books including travel impressions about the Balkan and Oriental countries, especially about the territories populated by Bulgarians, Serbians and Romanians, during the Ottoman domination.
