Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to verificate the opinion, which dominates among the scholars, that Luther was a radical anti rationalist. By analyzing various claims of Luther and by referencing to the context of the late-medieval scholastics, the author indicates two fields of functioning of reason – the order of nature and the order of grace. In the first one it appears that to attain the legitimate cognition the natural reason is sufficient, in the second, the englithenment of faight turns out to be necessary. It means that on the ground of the thought of Luther is rejected any legitimate natural theology and that any knowledge of God is granted only by possessing of Spirit.
