Personal Names in the Northern Panevėžiškiai Subdialect

Summary/Abstract: The object of the article is a large semantic group lacking thorough studies – personal names recorded in the Northern Panevėžiškiai Subdialect. 280 personal names reflecting the person’s physical properties, age, occupation and social relations were selected for the study. The study intends to show the abundance and diversity of such names, to discuss their formation and origin and to try to identify which of them are still actively used by informants and which are gradually going out from the active usage or are abandoned altogether.
