Summary/Abstract: The sketch is a report of the search for the place Józef Czechowicz was born in, the place that does not exist today. The author is puzzled by the fact that the town has commemorated its greatest poet by erecting a monument in the place of his tragic death, but there is no trace of him in the place no less important, namely, in the place where everything started. Today we can only find base buildings of a modern shopping center where Czechowicz was born in a basement on 15 March 1903 at 9.30 a.m..
