Summary/Abstract: Launched in 2015 the Energy Union has made important progress over the last two and half years in all its five pillars: energy security, solidarity and trust, a fullyintegrated European energy market, energy efficiency, decarbonization and research, innovation and competitiveness. The launch of the Clean Energy for All Europeans Package in November last year was an important milestone in providing a framework within which Europe can become the global leader in renewable energies. In unstable times the Energy Union has played a crucial role in successfully forging new paths and creating a new dynamic for the entire European project. This article attempts to take stock of last year’s efforts to drive the Energy Union forward, from concepts and objectives to actions and deliverables.
