Summary/Abstract: The article analyses constructions that are typical of the official business style by dividing them into two groups: literary constructions and non-literary constructions. Examples have been given to show the use of standardized constructions in other functional styles or varieties of language, which in same cases lets the author speak about undesirable influence of the official business style. The study particularly focuses on constructions with an introductory word, e. g. neraugoties uz (except for), neskatoties uz (regardless of), pateicoties (thanks to), as these have been variously assessed in language practice. By analysing these units, the problem of desemantisation and conversion has been touched upon.
