Summary/Abstract: This article aims to answer two questions: 1) whether the cluster analysis is handy for finding typological rhythm similarities and on the basis of it so far unanalyzed languages can be classified 2) which cluster – stress-timed or syllable-timed languages – Lithuanian and Latvian languages fall into. For this study five native speakers (Latvian, Lithuanian, Swedish, Icelandic and Chinese) translated and recorded the same text. Text duration was about 1 minute. Records were annotated with the program PRAAT and acoustic correlates of rhythm were calculated using program Correlatore developed by Paolo Mairano (2.1 version). Results of other languages estimated by the author of the program Mairano (2011) was used for cluster analysis. The data was entered to the SPSS program and a cluster analysis was performed.
