Summary/Abstract: Te following article is about how and when ethnicity is of significance in elderly care. Below I analyze examples of how staff perceive each other and each other’s work. These analyses describe how ethnicity is important in their work and in what ways the concept is given meaning. Te importance of a phenomenon is primarily related to the linguistic expression of meaning. In this case the focus is on the meaning of ethnicity, which also includes the importance of actions, activities, behaviors and non-linguistic symbols, etc.
