Summary/Abstract: The European Parliament is the only institution of European Union’ political system, which is elected directly by the adult citizens of the Member States. After four decades from the first direct elections (1979) the EP elections are organized on the basis of national law. The article examines proposals of the EU electoral system’ reforms starting from the analysis of the model solutions used in fragmented democracies. Author indicated differences in the current national EP’ electoral laws and examined difficulties of the convergence and harmonization of the EU voting system.
