Summary/Abstract: Globalization, as a complex contemporary process characterized by liberalization, openness towards the external world and international integration of markets, labor force and capitals, is accompanied by a modern type of migration by which the labor force in poor countries is attracted to work in the highly industrialized countries, also characterized by a high standard of living and civilization. In our view, globalization is the international institutionalized framework through which companies promote their own interests, without needing the protective or mediating actions of their states of origin. In such a context, capital may circulate freely, firms do business everywhere, citizens may travel freely, the national legal framework complies with the provisions of the global legal framework and the basic principles of human action are guided by criteria of efficacy, efficiency, and profit.
