Summary/Abstract: The article considers the first prose collection of short stories of Zinaida Gippius New people (1896), whose name is controversy in relation to the novel by Nicolai Chernyshevsky What is to be done?. Gippius’ New people unlike Chernyshevsky’s revolutionaries and democrats are the people who understood the Beauty and Harmony, but are not able to bring them into your life. This thesis is proved by the example of one short story collection Apple blossom.
