Summary/Abstract: Romeo Castellucci was born in the field of arts and since 1981 (once with the establishment of Theatre Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio) he started to pour his concept-images in the land of theatre. Like the builders of utopian communities, Romeo Castellucci, Chiara Guidi and Claudia Castellucci give birth to a theatre island where the art of theatre is regarded as a “constellation of arts”, and to an artistic space within which all the coordinates are radically transformed. The utopian island represented by Romeo Castellucci’s performances, clears its borders only when the creators of those performances labeled Theatre Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio meet the public, because the viewer is required to adapt his or hers reception channels, or to learn new codes for interpreting the artistic message. One might use as a starting point Erika Fischer-Lichte’s “The Transformative Power of Performance. A new Aesthetics" and label Romeo Castellucci’s performances with the following collocation: “performative paintings”. Therefore, the receiver of his works won’t face trouble, won’t negate, won’t refuse and all these because when faced with performative painting the spectator will know that terms such as theatre or theatrical matter less and he or she will consume products that carry new aesthetic coordinates.
