Summary/Abstract: A short biography of Elenka Dimitrieva-Encheva (1862-1939) – the first Bulgarian alumna of the American College of Girls at Constantinople, graduated in 1882, is prepared by her grandson, who combines data from official sources, family memories, and photographs. The life story of Elenka Encheva gives an example of activities of educated housewives in Bulgaria in the mid 19th of the 20th century – as a good wife, a perfect mother, and a respected charity lady.
