Summary/Abstract: The paper explores the opportunities and the role that demography can take in the research of poverty, by discussing theoretical and and empitical evidence of the relations between poverty and demographic processes. It points to the development and the complexity of the concept of poverty, as well as to the multiplication of research topics and indicators. It also discusses to what extent demographic factors are taken into account in measuring poverty, and whether or not their importance was changing.
