Summary/Abstract: The moviework of Pier Paolo Pasolini usually is associated with his accomplishments on the field of the feature cinema. However the creator of The Theorem, made also a few of the films which we could associate to the species of the document cinema. These specific movie forms had very original shape which contained the elements of fiction feature and the film of facts. The first group of the Pasolini’s “documents” were created by the „film’s draft”. These kind of films had contained preparations to movie projects which were made (or not), eg. The Note from the Trip to Palestine (introduction to the Gospel According to Matthew), or the Draft to the Film about India (preparation to the realized mythical film about mythical period of India confronted with the the present day of this country). Second group of the Pasolini’s „documents” there were films which were made by using the technique found-footage, (based on materials which were realized earlier by other filmmakers (Fury, 1963). At last, third group of the cinema of facts, created by the director of Salo were interventionist documents connected with controversial matters, often unusually current for the present Italian society, such as the change of morals in the day of Italian Economic Miracle (Amorous Association, 1963), or confrontation between leftist and rightist (12 December, 1972). Document forms were not realized by Pasolini only as „the addition” to his proper, fictional activity. By making of these films Pasolini prove of his creative inventiveness, social commitment and original understanding of the present culture always rooted in patterns from the past.
