Summary/Abstract: The Theatricality of Film. Intermedial breaks and transformations in the contemporary Romanian short films.1 The study broaches the issues of constitution and representation of a „société du spectacle” regarding the contemporary Romanian short films. Starting from an extended concept of theater as a dynamic process implemented both inside and outside it, the central assumption behind this approach is that the Romanian contemporary cinematography is using meta-theatrical methods in order to stage the reality. Moreover, the study tries to emphasize the fact that there is an aesthetic mutation and a development of Romanian cinematography after the post-revolutionary rupture, realized both through the interaction of theatrical and cinematic elements and techniques.
