Summary/Abstract: The article deals with a compilation technique in the pre-modern historical writings in Lithuania. I compare the first Polish version of Historia Alexandri Magni regis Macedoniae de proeliis (1510), which was probably created in the territory of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (the manuscript is kept in the National Library of Poland, Warsaw), to the Lithuanian chronicles. Most attention is paid to the intertextual links. The analysis demonstrates the great similarity of Historia to the so-called legendary part of the chronicles and leads to the conclusion, that Historia was the source for the chronicles. The Polish Historia was in the possession of Albertas Goštautas (...-1539), the chancellor of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and initiator of historical and polemical writings (e.g. chronicles) in sixteenth century Lithuania. This fact sheds more light on the conditions and milieu, in which these writings were composed.
