Summary/Abstract: During July and August 2014, the archaeological investigations of the Bronze Age cemetery from Cârlomănești-La Arman, Village Vernești, County of Buzău, focused towards north from the previous investigated areas, in the Sector B (called by the locals La Cocoșoaica/La Ciocănica). The systematic archaeological research started in 2001, revealing a total of 105 Bronze Age graves, belonging to Monteoru Culture. During the 2014 campaign, 20 graves were excavated and several pits (one of them Cpl. 90, belonging to the Early Iron Age). Most of the skeletons were buried, usually crouched on the left side, with their heads towards W-SW (with various deviations), only one grave (M.101) having the remains of at least one cremated individual. There are a variety of funeral structures, simple graves in oval-shape or rectangular pits, small stone structures over the skeletons or catacomb graves. The inventories are made up by ceramic pots (askos, kantharos and cups), ceramic fragments, bronze, silver or gold adornments. There are several multiple burials, made up by either reburying human remains or by burying together two or more individuals. Several skeletons were sampled during this campaign for 14C dating, which are going to be processed in the Poznan Radiocarbon Laboratory. The graves investigated on the La Arman plateau during the last 14 years represent one of the most important Monteoru culture cemeteries. Considering just the high number of investigated and published graves, the radiocarbon dates, the inventories, the cemetery from Cârlomănești form one of the largest samples of burials that can be used to study the funeral behavior of the Middle Bronze Age populations, south and east of the Carpathians.
