The political activity of the opposition and oppositarism in Albania in 1921 - 1924

Summary/Abstract: The opposition and oppositarism were crucial institutional components of the political system in Albania during 1921-1924. The Albanian opposition left its trace in all the political, social and cultural developments of the country during this period. It was also the beginning and a historical apical limit in the process of constitution of a democratic state and society in Albania. In this study paper, broadly based on Albanian, British and Italian Archival sources, as well as on a wide range of Albanian and foreign historiography bibliography several important scientific problems have been treated and new analyses have been carried out on them: The set up of the opposition, the way it was set up and its run and reorganization during 1920-1924. The social-political constitution of the opposition, its consisting groups, its inner organizational, political, ideological and social cohesion. The relations of the opposition to the national question. The relations of the opposition to the government and the way of governing. The political activity of the opposition within the frame of the constitutional institutions of the country The military unconstitutional activity of some oppositional groupings, its political and juridical reasons and consequences. Thus several problems have been treated and new conclusions have been drawn having in the basis of these analyses the nature, the qualities and the outlines of the political activity of a normal opposition in a democratic system.
