Tendencies and priorities in public libraries activity

Summary/Abstract: The article presents an analysis of the development tendencies based on the expertise of the libraries in the country and abroad, and based as well on the results of recent sociological surveys. A special importance is bestowed to users needs which represent the ground of the positive changes recently recorded; there are also discussed aspects connected with the community involvemnt in the library’s activity, communication as a new concept for the knowledge creation basis. The activity priorities for 2013 have been mapped out based on the survey of the tendencies and the results of the recent studies.
