Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the legal effect of the collective agreement according to the Bulgarian law. Special attention is also given to the extension of the legal effect of the collective agreement on the whole branch or sector by the Minister of Labour and Social Policy. The main characteristics of the collective agreement and its legal effect brought out by the Bulgarian legal doctrine and case-law are also outlined. In conclusion, some legislative recommendations aiming to the improvement of the legal base are derived.
