Summary/Abstract: This paper reviews the history of imagological research. Imagology is a paradigm within the culture of science, which is closely related to the comparative literature and historiography, history of mentality, gender research, social psychology, axiology, cultural anthropology, cultural theory, cultural studies, image theory, political science, international relations, sociology, systems theory, or even the areas of cognitive linguistics research on alterity. It is an interdisciplinary humanities area, which beyond an interdisciplinary approach deserves an independent methodological status.
