Summary/Abstract: The standards contained in legal regulations, defining high level of protection of subjective right to safe working conditions, does not affect sufficiently the practice of activities in this area. The article pointed out the important social and economic factors and causes of failure to respect personal employee rights to safe working conditions. In light of statistical data and results of the carried out checks, contained in the annual reports of State Labour Inspection, the scale of violations that are expressed in reported offenses and events is still enormous in Poland. The consideration pointed out the generic actions that should favourably affect improvement of the situation in this respect.
