Summary/Abstract: The article describes the Russian-Balkan ecclesiastical relations during the first half of the 19th century. During this period special attention is paid to the relations between the Holy Synod and Orthodox Church of Serbia and the Bulgarian lands, which are aided with money and church plate. The so called “Palestinian List” includes the Orthodox temples that have the right to such aid and also contains the obligatory fixed sums that are annually paid to them. The “Palestinian List”, besides the European part of Turkey, also includes churches from Minor Asia, South Africa and Mediterranean islands. The tradition of those aids lasts for several centuries. The article pays special attention to the aid provided to the Rila Monastery in Bulgaria by the Russian Orthodox Church.
