Summary/Abstract: The Aramaic terminology used in the Syriac Churches both of the East and of the West, point out the literal understanding in 10th century of the real presence of Christ in His Eucharistic Body. The most ancient texts on Eucharist confirm such an understanding present in the Church from the very beginning. In the paper, the opinions of the early Christian authors are collected and compared to the fragments of anaphoras ascribed to the authors who had lived in the first 4 centuries of Christianity. All the evidence confirms that the spiritual reality, though untouchable and invisible, was treated as the events that really take place.
