On the place of the category adjunction in the description of connectors in Russian

Summary/Abstract: Within the circle of phenomena traditionally referred to in Russian grammars as “prisoedinenie” (lit. ꞌadjunctionꞌ), we propose to distinguish between the level of logical-semantic relations and the level of the communicative organization of the utterance. A communicative strategy “comment” is introduced, which consists in the fact that the speaker makes a statement about the content of the statement already made, in the light of which this statement should be interpreted. The analysis of Russian connectors a and da i is proposed, which can be used to implement this communicative strategy.
