Summary/Abstract: The goal of this pilot research is to underline the aspects linked to the type of mindset (fixed or growth) of the students of the University of Oradea, Faculty of Socio-Humanistic Studies, enrolled in the 1st and 2nd years of the Pedagogy of Primary and Preschool Education study program (N=58). The research tool was the Growth Mindset Inventory which we translated and adapted based on the principles stated by Carol Dweck. The research hypotheses presumed there was a correlation between the type of mindset and age, on one hand, and between the type of mindset and the year of study, on the other hand. The results do not validate the research hypotheses. Even if so, there was evidence of the influence the year of study has on adopting a flexible mentality, and not so much the age. But, these data can open new research directions in the investigation of student mindset, on a larger group of subjects.
