Summary/Abstract: Danko Grlić (1923. – 1984.) was one of the most important philosophers in Yugoslavia. His influence was and is widely felt in Europe as well. Grlić was born in Gračanica, near Tuzla. Grlić’s main philosophical interests were aesthetics and the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche. It is important to stress the point of Grlić’s activity in the rehabilitation of Nietzsche in Yugoslavia, and his efforts to rehabilitate this German philosopher from the blatant falsifications of his work and the insinuations that the philosopher and his works were somehow connected with the pseudo-philosophy of the national socialists. Another important point are Grlić’s translations, his lexicographical and his encyclopedic activities. This article offers a short summary of Grlić’s works and the fundamental biographical milestones. It also explores Grlić’s importance in the journal Praxis as well as his role in the philosophical framework of the second half of the twentieth century
