Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to a comparative legal analysis of general rules accepted to determine the status of adoption in Polish and Spanish conflict of laws. The first part aims at characterizing the sources of domestic law, which regulates the conflict of laws adoption institution in both states. The second part of the paper discusses the general rule of law competence for adoption, binding in Polish law. The third part presents the general rule accepted to define the status of adoption in Spanish law. The fourth part of the study discusses limitations of the general rules concerning determination of the status of adoption, which appear in the law of both states. Finally, the fifth part of the article presents conclusions resulting from the conducted analysis.
