Summary/Abstract: Reinsurance is a younger phenomenon to a direct insurance. To its creation development of a market economy and a substantial commutation of a capital was necessary. This type of economy, with initial capitalist elements, implied creation of further developed insurance, apart from a regular one. Since the moment of creation of an institution of reinsurance in 1370, constant changes in its legal constructions as well as in a from of agreements, concluded by contracting parties, have been performed. Primarily, reinsurance has all features of gambling. In the 19th century it was created as a modern institution of an insurance market, which was connected to development of an actuarial account enabled possibilities of mathematical, that is a scientific, calculation of a risk.
