Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to show the transformation of the instrumental groups in the contemporary Macedonian wedding customs. The transformation appears in the use of the tempered instruments (clarinet, violin, saxophone, trumpet, accordion, guitar, etc.) instead of the traditional un tempered instruments (bagpipes – gajda, kaval, zurla, tambura, etc.), and also in the use of the electric (mostly electric guitar and bass) instead of the acoustic instruments. But often in the instrumental groups there is mixing between all of the mentioned types of instruments. There are also changes in the performance of the musically accompanied wedding customs in the aspects of the environmental factors and the change of the seasons has noticeable role in the choice of the instruments. Therefore, the preformed wedding music gains its typical characteristics. This paper shows results based on previous empiric research and field work.
